Are you already thinking about holiday plans for 2024? Is South America on your bucket list? (it certainly is on mine!)
If so, you might like to know that as from the beginning of December, LATAM Airlines Peru will offer direct flights from Lima to London with 5 weekly flights (Monday-Wednesday, Fridays and Sundays) .
The 12-hour flights will connect Lima (the capital of Peru) to London Heathrow using Boeing 789 aircraft, a modern fleet with a capacity for a total of 300 passengers: 30 passengers in Premium Business and 270 in Economy.
The direct route will depart from Jorge Chavez International Airport at 9:00 PM and arrive at London Heathrow Airport at 2:00 PM.
The direct Lima – London route was previously operated by British Airways from May 2016 until March 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak. It utilised a Boeing 777 operating only three days a week during the summer season in the UK and two days a week in winter. This route ceased operations and was never resumed regularly.
The re-initiation of this air operation is a significant milestone in air connectivity, with LATAM Airlines Peru being the first Peruvian airline to fly directly to London, and signifies the recovery of a previously served market with an increase in air capacity (more seats and more frequencies) to and from Europe.
According to the embassy in Lima, 50,000 British tourists visit Peru each year and during the last 12 months the United Kingdom granted 4,000 visas to Peruvian citizens.
LATAM Airlines Peru will be capable of connecting London and Europe with all regions of Peru and South America.
