Fathers’ Day this year falls on Sunday 19 June, so if you’ve not started thinking about gifts for your papa (or the father of your offspring), now’s the time to do so! Here are some ideas for you to consider, starting at a pocket money budget and working upwards:

If you haven’t tried Rogue marmalades, then I urge you to.  Available at Waitrose, Ocado, Asda and even Getir (great for a last minute panic present!) He can start his day with a very special breakfast. I’ve tried the Negroni marmalade (Rogue’s Blood Orange Marmalade imbued with those alcoholic elements needed to up its game into a cocktail marmalade) and also the rum infused Dark & Stormy;  they are both fabulous.  There are lots of other products in the range too, and very affordable at around £3 a jar.

If he’s a coffee fan, a Dark Chocolate Coffee Beans Jar, £12.50, from Farhi makes an unusual gift. This is an indulgent treat of Aromatic Brazilian coffee beans enrobed in premium, smooth dark Belgian chocolate.  Farhi.co.uk has a whole range of really different sweet and savoury gifts, so it’s an ideal website  if you want a mail order gift.

It’s BBQ season, and as it so often tends to be the man of the house who’s in charge of the BBQ, I’d suggest a BBQ Jam Trio from Ross & Ross.  Sensibly priced at £13.50 (Ocado) they have selected their customers’ favourites: Smoky Chilli Chipotle, Habanero & Pineapple, and Sweet Chilli & Lime Jam. With varying levels of spice, he’ll enjoy deep flavours and mouth-watering aromas that work perfectly on BBQ meats or as dipping sauces. Ross & Ross also has a British BBQ Box at £25 that includes their award-winning BBQ salt, BBQ oil, smoky BBQ rub and BBQ jam. (also at Ocado) and other online outlets.

There are many beer gifts around, and Flavourly has an excellent selection of boxed gift sets that make the ideal Fathers’ Day gift. Ranging from 6-24 cans of premium craft beers, from IPA’s to lagers and including a gift card, glass(es), beer textbook and snack – and all for as little as £19.95 (including free delivery).  This is a great way to say ‘Cheers’ and show you care, especially if you can’t be there.

Has he tried mead? Mead seems to be the ‘in’ drink this summer (judging by the number of mead stalls at food fairs!) I’ve recently tasted various meads, and was very impressed with Gosnells, Original Wildflower Mead. (also affectionately known as “Peckham Prosecco”) The company’s signature mead is in a can, ready to pour, and the honey used in this mead has been made using the nectar of over 45 flowers, no less. How’s that for flower power! London’s only meadery, Gosnells is an independent company, based in Peckham. These unique drinks are made with 100% natural honey, and contain no added sugar, gluten, sulphites, artificial flavours or colourings.  Prices start at £10 for four cans and there are other – flavoured – meads, plus lots more info on the website here

Not at all sure what to give?  Then perhaps an experience day gift card will fit the bill?  Activitygift is the world’s only experience day company to ‘repay’ the planet with every booking made.  There are over 50,000 activities and experiences worldwide and the prices start from just £25.  And for every activity booked, a tree is planted through the company’s relationship with Eden Reforestation Project (supporting a greener environment in places that need it most around the world).   Each Activitygift can be personalised with a picture and heartfelt note, and posted internationally free of charge. Food crawls, gin or cheese tours, Sunday lunch canal cruises, whisky tastings…you name it, there’s an experience for every foodie father!

And of course, most restaurants and pubs are serving a special Fathers’ Day Sunday lunch –  something the whole family can enjoy together!
